Meet Jamissa & Kelly

We’re Jamissa and Kelly Lawson — two best friends who happen to share a last name, but are not related by blood. What we are related by is something far stronger: 16 years of friendship, faith, laughter, shared tears, and an absolute refusal to stop creating.

Jamissa, is the original maker. She opened the Scattering Joy Craft Boutique on Main Street in Hamilton, Ohio — a beautiful little shop that became a gathering place for people who believed in the power of handmade, heartfelt gifts. When the boutique eventually closed, Jamissa’s hands never stopped. She kept making, kept creating, kept scattering joy — quietly, from her home, for the people she loved.

Kelly, is a single mom of four — including a son with special needs who has taught her more about strength, patience, and love than anything else in this world. A few years ago, Kelly discovered laser engraving and CNC crafting, and it lit a fire in her. She arrived at Jamissa’s door with a machine and a spark, and the two of them haven’t looked back since.

Why Sunflowers?

The name HSSJ holds a story that Kelly carries close to her heart. Sunflowers have always been her symbol — bright, resilient, always turning toward the light. But they became something even more sacred when she lost a child who now lives in heaven.

Heavens Sunflowers are Scattering Joy is her way of believing that even from heaven, that love is still reaching down — still planting seeds, still brightening corners, still whispering that joy is possible. Every piece we make is touched by that belief.

Family Is Everything

Between the two of us, we have Jamissa’s 13 grandchildren and Kelly’s four kids — which means our homes are loud, our tables are full, and we understand better than most what it means to need a gift that actually means something. The kind of gift that makes someone stop and feel seen. That’s what we make.

We still load up our car on weekends and take our work to craft shows — two women hauling tables and tubs and signs and smiles, doing what we love for the people right in front of us. But our dream is bigger than a tent in a parking lot. Our dream is that someone anywhere — in any state, in any season of their life — can find something here that scatters a little joy into their day.

Every HSSJ piece is made by our hands, in our homes, with professional-grade equipment and personal care that no factory can replicate. We use laser engravers, CNC routers, DTF printers, and heat presses to bring your custom designs to life — but the love that goes into every piece? That part is all us.
